If, like me, you’ve avoided subscribing to Amazon Prime, now might be a good time to give it a try.
Amazon is (still) offering a free 30 day trial of the service, which would essentially cover the remaining shopping days for the upcoming holiday season. With a Prime membership, you will get free 2 day shipping on items you buy (note: this is on most items; there are some exceptions in the case of Amazon selling through some third parties). Even better, you can upgrade to next day shipping for just $3.99 per item.
To get the free trial, you will need to provide Amazon with a payment method. If you do not cancel after 30 days, they will charge you for a one-year membership. In order to prevent this, just click on “Do Not Upgrade” under Your Account > Your Amazon Prime Membership.
Incidentally, the trial is a very powerful marketing tool for Amazon. I’m already thinking I will not cancel my membership, it has already been extremely handy.
Tax-free, shipping free online shopping… Happy Holidays.
UPDATE: Looks like as of today, the free trial is no longer valid. Too bad, as it has proven a great marketing tool; my household has decided to keep its membership for the next year.
